BEDC seeks proposals for Global Entrepreneurship Week
The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation has invited enterprising businesspeople to submit proposals for a range of events to run during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
GEW is celebrated annually and will run this year from November 11 to 17 under the theme “Celebrating Entrepreneurship”.
The BEDC said: “We invite entrepreneurs, innovators and business leaders to join us in celebrating and empowering Bermuda’s diverse entrepreneurial community.”
It added: “GEW 2024 aims to spotlight entrepreneurial success and promote the growth of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises across the island.”
Applicants can submit proposals for Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, an event which the BEDC said was “dedicated to celebrating and uplifting women entrepreneurs through inspiring talks, networking opportunities and interactive sessions with both international and local experts”.
Pitches can also be submitted for a Men’s Entrepreneurship Day celebration, where male business leaders can network.
Proposals for a vendors’ market and a festival of entrepreneurship — a “grand celebration” of Bermuda’s entrepreneurial spirit — will also be accepted.
The deadline for submissions is September 1 and applicants must include a detailed description of the event they plan to host, their target audience, expected outcomes and any logistical requirements.
Submissions can be sent by e-mail to jlodge@bedc.bm and kwilliams@bedc.bm.
The BEDC said the entrepreneurship week aimed to inspire people through global activities that are “designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators”.
It said the event develops collaboration and networking and provides “a platform for entrepreneurs to share their experiences and gain insights from others”.
The BEDC said: “By participating in GEW, BEDC aims to inspire and support new and existing entrepreneurs, foster a culture of innovation and creativity, provide opportunities for networking and professional growth, and showcase the successes and contributions of Bermuda’s entrepreneurial community.
“Through these efforts, BEDC hopes to cultivate a thriving entrepreneurial environment that drives economic growth and development on the island.”
