The event is celebrated annually on August 12 (Image supplied)

A celebration marking International Youth Day is planned for Monday at City Hall.

The Government said the event, which starts at 11am, will include the reading of a proclamation as well as several performances and presentations.

“It serves as an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing the world's youth and to celebrate their achievements and contributions,” it added.

This year, the global event will be celebrated under the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”.

The Government said the theme “underscores the significant role of young people in driving digitalisation and innovation”.

It added: “As the largest demographic of users and developers, youth are at the forefront of adopting new technologies and shaping digital trends.

“They are leading digital processes and creating data-driven solutions for a brighter future.”

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, said: “On International Youth Day 2024, let's celebrate the incredible potential of our youth to drive sustainable change through digital innovation.

“Together, we're transforming clicks into progress and paving the way for a brighter future.

“I invite our community to come out … to celebrate our young people and acknowledge the power and potential of young people in creating a sustainable and inclusive world.”
