The Youth Library in Hamilton is to temporarily close to allow roof and structural repairs to take place.

Joanne Brangman, the Department of Libraries and Archives Director, said: “These measures are necessary to enhance the library's facilities and common areas, ensuring a better experience for our patrons.”

During the closure, staff will host the following programmes in the meeting room at the main library on Queen Street: Saturday Storytime, Book Babies, Girls' Club and Chess Club, all on Saturdays; Crafternoons on Tuesdays; Teen Advisory AB on Wednesdays; and Lego Club on Thursdays.

A department spokeswoman added: “A limited selection of children’s and young adult books will be available for loan at the main library.

“Parents and schools are encouraged to utilise our online resources.

“Additionally, youth librarians will be available to conduct class visits at schools to promote the library and facilitate membership sign-ups at PTA meetings where scheduling permits.

“Our customer support services will remain available by e-mail at youthlib@gov.bm throughout our temporary closure. We will provide updates once the work is under way.”

The building, on Church Street, will be temporarily closed from August 24 to October 14.
