New Director of Department of Financial Assistance named

The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors has named Charles Clarke as the new Director of the Department of Financial Assistance.

In a statement this afternoon, a ministry spokeswoman said: “Mr Clarke will assume responsibility for the overall management and operation of the Department of Financial Assistance, including programme planning and financial, personnel and administrative functions.

“He is also responsible for reviewing and developing policy and monitoring and evaluating financial assistance programmes and services.”

Mr Clarke, who holds a Bachelor of Science in hotel management and a Master of Arts in human resource development, worked in a variety of roles including several public service posts between 1996 and 2005, including periods at the Bermuda Post Office and the Transport Control Department.

The spokeswoman said: “Mr Clarke returned to the Public Service in 2016, resuming the role of registration manager at TCD.

“He maintained this position until August 12, when he was appointed Director of the Department of Financial Assistance.”
