Ticketing system for St George’s Seafood Festival
Visitors at this year’s St George’s Seafood Festival can take advantage of a ticketing system to purchase items such as food and beverages.
The Corporation of St George’s said the free event on September 15 at Ordnance Island, will run from noon to 7pm.
It said the festival promises to be more engaging and will feature a mixture of returning and new activities.
This year, the corporation is teaming up with the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce for event and sponsorship management.
“This strategic relationship will elevate the Town of St George and bolster businesses within the restaurant and entertainment sectors,” the corporation said.
Through the partnership, the ticketing system will be introduced to streamline service and enhance the overall experience of the event.
“Enjoy your favourite meal or sample offerings from many vendors, as sampling is a new feature this year,” the corporation added.
Tickets will be available for purchase at the festival or in advance through the BCC.
The tickets can be purchased online at www.bermudachamber.bm
The corporation said the festival “has quickly become a source of pride for the town, as it reflects and celebrates the town's rich maritime heritage”.
It said the event resonates with the town’s history, which started with the arrival of Sir George Somers and the settlers, who relied on wild hogs and seafood for survival.
It added: “The tradition of the Sunday morning breakfast of codfish and potatoes, now considered a culinary delicacy, continues to be shared with both residents and visitors alike.”
Visitors can look forward to renowned seafood chefs who will showcase their culinary expertise at the festival.
Popular snack vendors offering a variety of treats, and live entertainment coupled with activities for children, will complement the atmosphere.
Quinell Francis, Mayor of St George, said the event was pioneered as a joint effort between the Bermuda Tourism Authority and the Corporation of St George’s to create a model which could join the national event circuit alongside VeganFest and the Taste of Bermuda.
She said the strategic relationship forged with the Chamber would elevate the town and bolster businesses within the restaurant and entertainment sectors.
Residents can anticipate increased activity in the areas of Tiger Bay, Water Street, King’s Square, and Ordnance Island in the days leading up to and on the day of the festival.
Complimentary parking will be available free of cost at Tiger Bay.
