Lord Mayor of London meets City of Hamilton group
City of Hamilton councillors and its chief executive welcomed the Lord Mayor of the City of London yesterday.
Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli is visiting the island to strengthen the relationship between Bermuda, the City of London and the wider United Kingdom.
He was welcomed yesterday by Acting Mayor of Hamilton Dennis Tucker, the City’s chief executive Dwayne Caines and councillors at City Hall.
A spokeswoman for the City said: “During the informal meeting, the group discussed topics of mutual interest.
“The Acting Mayor and Lord Mayor Mainelli also participated in a ceremonial exchange of gifts.”
Government House posted on Facebook earlier that Governor Rena Lalgie had welcomed Mr Mainelli to the island.
It added: “The occasion was marked with a special visit to the Bermuda Stock Exchange, where the Governor officially opened the BSX by ringing the ceremonial bell.”
