Solstice receives LGBTQ+ Ally Award
A mental wellness centre was recognised by an LGBTQ+ charity last month.
Solstice received the organisation Icon Award for Allyship at the Bermuda Pride Icon Awards ceremony and Kelly Madeiros, the centre’s managing director, was nominated for individual Ally of the Year.
A spokeswoman said: “This prestigious accolade recognises Solstice’s commitment to enhancing the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals through innovative therapeutic programmes, community engagement and advocacy.
“Solstice’s collaborative efforts with OutBermuda have set a benchmark for excellence in promoting mental wellbeing and inclusivity within the community.”
Collaborations between the two organisations include the Outlet peer support group and Solstice’s financial support for OutBermuda.
Ms Madeiros said the award and nomination were “incredible honours that acknowledge our commitment to the community”.
She added: “These recognitions motivate us even further to continue our advocacy and supportive endeavours.
“Our partnership with OutBermuda and our ongoing initiative are testament to our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
“This recognition reaffirms our resolve to keep pushing for better mental health support and greater inclusivity in Bermuda and beyond.
“These awards not only celebrate our past achievements but also propel us forward to continue our important work.”
