The show must go on: musical moves to CedarBridge

A musical theatre group has announced that its major 2024 show will take the stage at Ruth Seaton James Auditorium after technical problems at City Hall.

Magic of the Musicals 2, produced by the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Bermuda, had been scheduled to open at the Earl Cameron Theatre next month.

However, an air-conditioning failure caused the show to change venues.

Katrina Kawaley-Lathan, president of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Bermuda, said: “This is a big change from past years but our event was one that was affected by the sudden cancellation of events at City Hall.

“We are so grateful that there was availability at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium and that they have worked with us so that we can ensure that the show will go on.

“With only three weeks until opening night, it is not an exaggeration to say that they have saved the show. The actors and production team continue to work hard, ensuring that we will put on a great show for the community.”

A spokeswoman for the organisation said Magic of the Musicals 2, set to run from October 3 to October 12, will feature more than 60 adults, children and teenagers performing a range of hit musical numbers.

“This must-see production promises to sweep theatregoers off their feet with spectacular, high-energy choreographed numbers that will leave audiences spellbound alongside breathtaking solo performances that showcase the beauty of the genre,” the spokeswoman said.

“With a diverse array of everyone's favourite songs spanning from the bright lights of Broadway to the charm of London’s West End, this production promises an unforgettable journey through the heart of musical theatre.”
