School fun: Somersfield Academy in Devonshire (File photograph)

Motorists are advised to use caution when driving in Devonshire on Sunday morning.

Traffic controls will be in place on Middle Road between 9am and 10am when Somersfield Academy hosts a fun run and walk.

According to a Ministry of Public Works notice, there will be no road closures during the event, but motorists are expected to use caution and “avoid collisions with the race participants”.

The 5km race starts and finishes at the school, with runners negotiating a course along Middle Road, Store Hill, North Shore Road, Barkers Hill and Parsons Lane.

The notice states: “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full co-operation of the motoring public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result.”
