A session for people who play an active role in the lives of children is to take place next month.

The Cultivating Connections Workshop was designed to empower teachers, youth workers and parents.

Kimberley Jackson, a programme manager for The Mirrors Programme, said the goal of the event at the Willowbank Resort and Conference Centre is to provide practical strategies that will help participants to make a lasting impact on the lives of Bermuda’s young people.

She said: “The Cultivating Connections Workshop is a free professional development opportunity designed to equip educators, youth workers and parents with tools to better engage and support young people.

“This workshop will provide valuable strategies to create meaningful connections, encourage personal growth and enhance communication with youth.”

Ms Jackson said that the workshop, on October 19 from 9am to 3.30pm, will offer hands-on experiences that are applicable in personal and professional settings.

Previous attendees will have special breakout groups for greater exploration, while all participants will earn professional development hours and gain insights into how to build positive relationships and support youth development.

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, said: “Investing in those who work directly with our young people is essential to building a brighter future for Bermuda.

“The Cultivating Connections Workshop offers impactful strategies to better understand and support the next generation.

“I encourage educators, youth workers and parents to take full advantage of this valuable opportunity."
