‘Arabian Nights’ event raises funds for family services
A Family Centre fundraiser inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, often known as Arabian Nights, was a huge success, organisers said.
The event at the Pier 6 Complex in Hamilton on Saturday transported guests to an era of mythical genies and magic lamps, with the colours and culture of the Middle East, reminiscent of the popular tale of Aladdin.
There was music by Rusty G and Working Title Band, a marketplace, Patrina O’Connor Paynter as MC and a belly dancing performance by Cirqle Circus.
The funds raised during the event will allow the charity to continue offering free therapeutic counselling services and community programmes to vulnerable children, teens and families across Bermuda.
Thania Redman, the charity's relationship development director, said: “It is largely thanks to our sponsors that Family Centre is able to host such a special evening and raise the critical funds we need.
“We know that our sponsors have a choice in who they will and can support due to budget and other commitments.
“We are immeasurably grateful for them choosing Family Centre and vulnerable children and families in Bermuda to support in this way.”
Hannah Collins de la Cruz, Family Centre's fund development specialist, added: "Many attendees embraced the theme and dressed accordingly, which added to the overall fun of the evening.
“Our amazing volunteers ensured that everyone had a wonderful experience. Special thanks to our PwC volunteers who made sure every dollar raised on the night was accounted for."
The charity thanked sponsors including: The Elisabeth and Anne Kast Charitable Trust; BF&M; CG Insurance; Sovereign Risk Insurance; Gosling’s Limited; Spanish Town Entertainment; Class Act Designs; RBK Advertising + Design; and Belco.
