Residents invited to apply for Bermuda Police Service
Residents interested in law enforcement can apply to join the Bermuda Police Service.
The appeal comes months after officer numbers were revealed to be at a 45-year low.
Na’imah Astwood, Acting Commissioner of Police, said: “We are always looking to hire more residents as police officers.
“Policing provides vast opportunities, including careers within careers, and it is a great privilege to serve in the country you live in.”
Ms Astwood, who has worked in the BPS Task Force, Serious Crime and Community Policing units during her tenure, added that the service offers “a wonderful opportunity to give back and make a difference, while also helping to make Bermuda safer”.
People must be between 19 and 49 years old at the start of their contract, be in good health and have at least a Bermuda School Diploma or equivalent degree to apply.
Applications from foreign nationals living outside Bermuda will not be considered, but ones submitted by non-Bermudian work-permit holders or their spouses who have permission to seek employment on the island may.
Successful applicants will be assessed by the board and must pass medical and psychological exams, as well as security, sustainability, initial recruitment and job-related fitness tests to be considered for the six-month Recruit Foundation Course.
This course incorporates on the job training, academic modules, practical exercises, course work, exams and frontline duties.
• All applications must be submitted throughgovtcareers.gov.bmby 7pm on October 25. No hard copies will be accepted and queries can be directed to recruiting@bps.bm
