The St George’s branch of HSBC Bank Bermuda has closed for the day because of flooding on the property.

Just over 7.6in of rain were recorded by the Bermuda Weather Service yesterday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Oscar passed over the island.

Tanya Bule, the head of wealth and personal banking and marketing for the bank, said: “We anticipate that the branch will need to be closed for one day to ensure that the premises are fit for our employees and customers.

“In the interim, we apologise to our customers for any inconvenience this may cause and remind them that alternative banking services will still be available.”

Ms Bule said customers can still use the Mobile Banking App, online services at www.hsbc.com or automated phone banking services by calling 299-5959.
