The Department of Workforce Development urged businesses to support the island’s young people by signing up for its Youth Employment Programmes.

A pair of virtual information sessions are scheduled to be held on November 5 to offer employers information about the programme, which provides summer work opportunities to students.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, said: “Whenever possible, I encourage every business to embrace the opportunity to inspire future generations.

“Through the Department of Workforce Development's Youth Employment Programmes, your business can play a pivotal role in equipping Bermudian high school and university students with invaluable on-the-job experience.”

The information sessions will provide details about the programmes’ goals and objectives, the expectations of employers involved and the responsibilities and expectations for both students and supervisors.

Mr Hayward added: “Working together, we can create a vibrant learning environment where students thrive and develop essential skills.

“Join us in shaping a brighter tomorrow where all our young people are prepared and able to enter the workforce confidently.”

The sessions will be held through Zoom at 10am and 3pm, with employers able to sign up online.

For more information, employers were invited to e-mail youthemployment@gov.bm.
