Donation to help boost critical services for at-risk young men
At-risk young men will benefit from a boost to mental health, housing, employment and life skills services, thanks to a donation to Transitional Community Services.
The “generous” donation from QBE will provide critical support for TCS’s Community Bridge Builders programme, which provides case management, counselling, employability skill-building and advocacy for men aged 18 to 34.
The mission of TCS is to provide young adults with tailored services that foster an enhanced quality of life through increased independent living skills.
TCS focuses on providing holistic support that aims to empower young men to overcome obstacles, build resilience and create lasting, positive change in their lives.
“Our partnership with QBE is invaluable,” Tiffanne Thomas, a non-executive vice-chairwoman of the board, said.
Dr Thomas added: “Their investment in our work ensures that we can continue to provide critical services to young men who face unique challenges in their path towards stability.
“October [Mental Health Awareness Month] is a time to elevate conversations about mental health, and with QBE's support, we can amplify our impact.”
Thomas Lowe, QBE foundation committee chairman in Bermuda, said the partnership was important.
“The TCS’s programme is designed to provide individualised support for young adult men,” he said.
“It’s a meaningful cause in line with our values and objectives to improve our social outreach.”
