The North Field track at the National Sports Centre is to close for a little more than two weeks as preparations are made for the Rugby World Classic.

The track will be closed from tomorrow until November 14.

Walkers, joggers and all other recreational users will not have access to the 600-metre track, outdoor gym and surrounding grassy areas during that time.

Craig Tyrrell, the centre’s senior vice-president operations manager, said: “We are always excited when hosting events like the World Rugby Classic but it does mean that, for safety purposes while we prepare for and during the tournament, the North Field will have to be closed to our recreational users.

“We do apologise for any inconvenience but look forward to their return after the event.”

This year’s classic will feature Argentina, Canada, Ireland, Italy, France, the US, South Africa and the Classic Lions.

There will also be a match featuring Old Bermuda vs Bald Eagles Rugby USA.
