In response to an appeal by the Salvation Army, the Bermuda Police Service donated a quantity of food items to boost the shelves of the charity.

A police spokesman said $4,000 in non-perishable items were handed over to the charity at its North Street Citadel by the BPS.

Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons and deputy commissioner Na’imah Astwood presented the items to the Salvation Army.

Major Darryl Simms, the corps officer and pastor of the facility, thanked all members of the BPS who contributed, for their generosity and kindness.

The donated items included boxed, canned and tinned food supplies to assist local individuals as well as families serviced by the Salvation Army’s feeding programmes this month.

The donation represented contributions made by various BPS departments and were collected at Hamilton Police Station since the end of October.
