The deadline for nominations for Bermuda’s next National Hero has been extended to November 15, a government spokeswoman said today.

National Heroes Day, which is observed on the third Monday in June, is a public holiday dedicated to honouring individuals who have made lasting contributions to the island’s history and heritage.

Bermuda’s induction of National Heroes, which began in 2009, represents the island’s highest recognition for exceptional and enduring service to the community.

There are eight National Heroes, and nominations to add to the list can be submitted at forms.gov.bm/Bermuda-National-Hero-Nomination.
