RBR to conduct training exercise at Government House
The Royal Bermuda Regiment will conduct a training exercise involving firearms on the grounds of Government House over the weekend.
A spokesman for the Ministry of National Security warned that blank ammunition and some pyrotechnics will be used during the exercise.
He warned that these exercises, starting tonight and continuing until Sunday, are controlled exercises and are not a cause for alarm.
Ample signage will be posted around the grounds on Langton Hill, Pembroke.
Members of the public have been asked to avoid areas where signs have been posted in the interest of safety, and to not call the police unless there is an actual emergency.
Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, said: “This training is important for preparing our soldiers for real-life scenarios.
“We appreciate the public's understanding and co-operation during this period.”
