A cache of handbags and accessories will go up for sale to support a community cause tomorrow with a night out at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club in Paget.

Family Centre’s much-loved fundraiser, the Old Bags Event, makes its return from 5.30pm to 8pm, featuring gently used donated designer handbags and other treasures.

Proceeds go towards the charity’s therapeutic counselling services and community outreach programmes, offered free to families with children aged 4 to 18.

The biennial event is co-ordinated by Megan Boyle and Maribeth Anderson.

Ms Boyle said: “Old Bags is a fun event with amazing finds. You can shop with your friends and make it a night out.

“There will be items priced starting at $5 and up. There is something for everyone.”

Items came from individual supporters as well as retailers.

Ms Anderson said the sale supported programmes shown to be “invaluable and deeply impactful in the lives of families in Bermuda”.

She added: “We continue with this popular fundraiser to ensure families can continue to access these therapeutic services and programmes without the barrier of costs.”

The two said the event came with “ample parking and lots of treasures to be found”, with participants getting a complimentary glass of prosecco and a chance to win a prize.

Tickets are $50 via the Ptix website and $60 at the door.
