Child evangelism charity appoints new missionary
A Bible-centred children’s charity is welcoming its first full-time missionary.
Shayla Woods joined the Child Evangelism Fellowship Bermuda in July and, this month, graduated from the Children’s Ministry Institute in Missouri.
In addition to her ministry duties, Ms Woods will serve as the assistant director for CEF Bermuda.
She will be introduced at the anniversary banquet to take place at Willowbank Resort and Conference Centre next month.
CEF Bermuda offers four key programmes throughout the year.
During the school term, volunteers from churches around the island conduct the Good News Club Bible teachings in primary schools.
It offers the Christian Youth in Action summer programme, which provides teens with training in presentation, Bible knowledge and classroom management.
Once trained, the participants go on to teach the 5-Day Club, a holiday Bible school.
Melvyn Bassett, the executive director of CEF Bermuda, said: “This past summer, CEF reached 192 children across the island.
“At Christmas, CEF visits schools with neighbouring pastors to share ‘The True Meaning of Christmas’ with children during an assembly.
“Each child receives a treat and a drink box along with a booklet, titled Meet the King.”
CEF Bermuda also organises the Christmas Party Club, where churches are encouraged to invite children from their neighbourhood to a Christmas party.
