The Government urged young Bermudians to consider jobs in the public service at a recent career fair for students held at Bermuda College.

A spokeswoman said the Government sought to “energise” its recruitment efforts with representatives taking part in more job fairs.

“To assist individuals in understanding all the job options that are available, government shared the Your Guide to Careers in the Public Service, a resource developed to highlight the vast opportunities for professional growth within the public sector,” the spokeswoman said.

“This guide is part of the ongoing Careers in the Public Service campaign launched in June 2024, which aims to raise awareness of the diverse and impactful career options available in the public service.”

The spokeswoman also noted that the Government had reintroduced a number of trainee opportunities, including for electrical engineers and the operations engineer, Marine Operations Centre controller and first-class branch pilot programmes.

Cherie Whitter, the Head of the Public Service, said: “These trainee programmes offer young professionals the chance to follow their passion, receive hands-on training working with experienced officers, and acquire the education, qualifications and experience needed to build successful long-term careers in public service.

“In addition to the guide, a series of promotional videos has been developed to raise awareness of the diverse career opportunities in public service and highlight upcoming recruitment drives, scholarship programmes and more.”
