A celebration of history, culture and entertainment will kick-off the holiday season in St George on December 6.

The Bermuda National Trust said residents and visitors were welcome to partake in the 44th edition of its annual walkabout in the Old Towne.

Visitors can attend several BNT properties such as the Old Rectory, Bridge House, Buckingham, Reeve Court and Stewart Hall, free of charge.

They will can learn more about the Bermuda’s rich history by visiting the Globe Museum, where the gift shop, Trustworthy, might offer inspiration for gifts.

St Peter’s Church, Mitchell House, Hannibal Lodge, Ebenezer Methodist Church and the Pilot Darrell House are also among notable landmarks people can visit.

A BNT spokesman said: “Live entertainment by musicians and dancers will fill King’s Square, adding to the evening’s lively atmosphere.

“Shops throughout St George’s will stay open late, making it a great opportunity to tick items off your Christmas shopping list.”

Food and drinks vendors will also be on the square, while festive beverages will be offered at pop-up cocktail bars, operated by Gosling’s, on Water Street and in the Globe Museum garden.

Parking plans for the event

To ease traffic congestion, there will be no parking in central St George’s, and on-street parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.

Visitors were encouraged to park at Kindley Field, where free shuttle buses will operate from 5pm to 10.30pm.

Limited parking will be available at St George’s Prep for a donation to the PTA.

A prepaid parking option at Tiger Bay/Penno’s Wharf is fully booked, and only vehicles with valid tickets or a Disabled Persons Parking Badge will be allowed entry.

The BNT thanked the event’s sponsors, including Butterfield Bank, HSBC, Gosling’s, Butterfield & Vallis, the Corporation of St George, Belco, and the Department of Culture.

This year, the trust said it partnered with Butterfield Bank for its Toys for Tots campaign.

People can drop-off unwrapped toy donations at designated locations at the event.
