Campaign for Bermudians to join uniformed services
A call was made by the Minister of National Security today for Bermudians to step up and consider a career with one of the island’s uniformed services.
Michael Weeks urged men and women to “take the challenge”.
The Ministry of National Security announced the launch of a comprehensive campaign that will span several months to encourage Bermudians — including young people and those who live overseas — to consider “a rewarding career” in one of the five organisations.
Uniformed services include the Bermuda Police Service, the Royal Bermuda Regiment, the Customs Department, the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and the Department of Corrections.
The ministry said: “Central to the campaign is the dedicated webpage gov.bm/uniformedservices, which will serve as a one-stop resource for detailed information about each service, engaging videos, contact details and updates on upcoming recruitment periods.
“While each uniformed service recruits at different times based on their individual needs and vacancies, interested individuals are encouraged to regularly visit the webpage for the latest updates about upcoming recruitment periods.”
Mr Weeks strongly supported the drive and said: “Whether you are a young person — a young man or a young woman — exploring your future or a Bermudian abroad thinking of returning home, these roles offer stability, personal growth and a meaningful way to give back to our island.”
He highlighted the importance of community involvement to help spread the word.
“I urge everyone to share this message with friends and family,” Mr Weeks said.
“Our uniformed services are the backbone of Bermuda's safety and wellbeing, and we need dedicated individuals to continue this vital work.
“Even if your desired service isn't recruiting at this moment, don't be discouraged. Please stay engaged, check the website regularly and prepare yourself for when the opportunity arises.”
The campaign will include video advertisements, radio features, graphics and widespread publicity across all Bermuda Government platforms to reach Bermudians wherever they are.
