Bermuda Healthcare Services gave out 150 turkeys to patients and members of the public this weekend in advance of Christmas.

The giveaway has become a holiday tradition since it was first launched 12 years ago when the BHCS and the Brown-Darrell decided to forgo its annual Christmas party in favour of helping the community.

Since then, the healthcare provider has distributed more than 1,000 turkeys to families across the island.

Ewart Brown, executive chair and a former premier, said: “Giving back to our community during the holiday season brings us immense joy.

“Our goal is to help alleviate some of the stress families face during these challenging economic times and make their Christmas a little brighter.

“Through initiatives like our annual turkey giveaway, our sponsorship of elite Bermudian athletes, our support for PHC, and our scholarships for medical students, we aim to uplift our community and inspire broader corporate support for the people of Bermuda.”
