More than 200 people attended the party in the Centennial Hall at St Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church and 150 others received containers of pre-ordered food. , The event was held in person for the first time since 2019.
Carol Clarke, Ms Anderson-Clarke’s grandmother, hosted the party from 1998 until 2023, but stepped back after she turned 65.
Ms Clarke explained: “I never wanted to go back in-person, because that’s a lot of work, but that’s what my granddaughter wanted to do and it came out perfectly.
“When I arrived there, my granddaughter was being given flowers from David Thompson, president of the Bermuda Overseas Missions, who congratulated her on the fine job she did.
“She did very well and I’m hoping she will keep taking it on, because she has to train her little sister in it before she goes to college.”
Singer Lisa Trott, dancers from the Heritage Worship Centre, poet Vernette Dorian and saxophonist Shawn Herman entertained people at the party.
Ms Clarke received the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour in 2011 and was recognised by the Ladies Aid Society of Bethel AME Church in March for her service to Bermuda’s seniors.
