Weeks delivers new year’s message
Residents were urged by the Minister of National Security to prioritise safety and acting responsibly as they prepared for new year activities.
Michael Weeks said: “While this is a time for celebration, it is essential that we avoid behaviours that could lead to harm.
“Please also be mindful of the tragic consequences that reckless or violent behaviour can bring to our families and friends.”
Similar to his Christmas message, Mr Weeks also warned against drink-driving and displaying antisocial behaviour.
The comments mirror those by police Detective Superintendent Sherwin Joseph, who said officers will take a “zero-tolerance approach” to traffic offences, particularly impaired driving, during the holiday.
Mr Weeks added: “Collectively, we can make this a peaceful and safe start to 2025.
“As we welcome the new year, I wish everyone a safe, enjoyable, and meaningful celebration.
“May 2025 bring hope and progress for all of Bermuda.”
