Community urged to visit ‘vibrant’ Ag Show in April
Horticulturalists, equestrians and craft artists can properly prepare for the Ag Show after the Government announced dates for this year’s event.
The Ministry of Public Works and the Department of Parks said that the 84th Annual Agricultural Exhibition will be held at the Botanical Gardens from April 24 to 26.
Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, said: “This historic event embraces longstanding traditions and connects multiple generations to the agricultural and horticultural heritage found in Bermuda.”
Entrants and vendors were encouraged to visit gov.bm/exhibition to review the official catalogue.
The ministry explained: “From arts and crafts to livestock, floral entries, locally grown plants and produce originating in Bermuda, this comprehensive downloadable catalogue guides entrants through all categories and competitions.”
Application forms are also available at the Department of Parks office on the ground floor of the Global House building, 43 Church Street, Hamilton.
All vendor applications must be received by January 17, junior artwork entries are due by March 14 and equestrian entries by March 28.
All other division entries must be received by March 21.
The ministry said: “Residents and visitors are invited to mark their calendars for this three-day celebration of culture, agriculture and community spirit.
“As the date approaches, additional details, including a schedule of events, will be posted on the gov.bm/exhibition webpage.
“The Ministry of Public Works, working with the Department of Parks, oversees this event, which is mandated to ‘Promote the study of agriculture; disseminate information regarding the techniques of agriculture and horticulture; and promote or hold agricultural exhibitions’.”
Colonel Burch added: “This gathering provides an opportunity for all to celebrate cultural identity while recognising the importance of sustainable practices and knowledge-sharing.
“I encourage everyone to attend and experience the vibrant showcase of agriculture, horticulture and craftsmanship that enriches the community.”
