Sweepstakes winners ride off in style
More than 2,300 people tried their luck in the build-up to Christmas on a raffle to win a new Yamaha motorbike.
A spokesman for the Terceira Family of Stations said people who bought fuel and any Kit Kat product at the Warwick South Shore, St John’s Road, East Broadway or Terceira’s North Shore petrol stations could enter the sweepstakes.
In the end, four contenders came out as winners from the promotion, which ran from November 1 until Christmas Eve.
The spokesman said each station became “a festive hub” with bikes on display at the locations.
The promotion “grew lots of excitement with customers sharing stories, laughter and anticipation of winning with the friendly staff”.
Irie 98 Studios called each of the winners — telling them that a problem with one of their purchases required them to see a manager at the store — before informing them of the prize.
Barber shop owner and taxi driver Taurey Whitter, who won the prize at the East Broadway station, explained: “If it wasn’t for the staff’s encouragement, I probably wouldn’t have entered, but I’m glad I did.”
Tanika White, who teaches at Northlands Primary School, was surrounded by family when she collected the prize from the station on St John’s Road.
She said: “Winning the bike will make life so much easier.”
O’dell Smith, who won the bike from the North Shore station, thanked the Terceira family for the “incredible holiday prize”.
Kelly Rego wrote her daughter Marley’s name on the winning ticket at the Warwick South Shore station.
Allan Young, operations manager for the stations, explained: “The bike giveaway was more than a raffle, it was a celebration of community, connection and kindness.
“The Terceira family, alongside their business partners ScooterMart, BGA and BF&M, were overwhelmed by the joy and gratitude they witnessed.”
