Charity holds ‘revolutionary’ love campaign
Residents were invited to join a charity this month when it spreads messages of love as an active “revolutionary force”.
Bermuda Is Love will hold a series of events and activities including workshops.
The community action group said the #RevolutionaryLove campaign is a call to action for people, organisations and groups to embrace love as a radical, transformative force capable of reshaping the world.
The campaign will begin on February 8 with a children’s workshop for compassion and justice at the Western Zone Community Centre in Sandys, from 4pm to 6pm.
It will conclude with a “Walk for Love” event on February 23 from 1pm to 3pm beginning at Long Story Short on Water Street, in St George, where participants will be taken on a journey towards “equity and transformation”.
The charity said the campaign challenged the status quo by redefining love — not as a passive or private emotion, but as an active, revolutionary force.
Against the backdrop that revolutions are rooted in love, it said the campaign envisioned a global movement to build systems, cultures and relationships centred on care, justice and equity.
The group said it envisions a society where love is not only confined to personal relationships but serves as a radical commitment to care, confronting injustice and building a world where every individual’s basic needs are met.
It added: “We envision a transformed world where love is not merely an emotion but a conscious action — an everyday choice practised through care, kindness, commitment and responsibility to others.
“Revolutionary love is a tool of liberation, dismantling racism, imperialism, capitalism, patriarchy and all forms of oppression.”
It said the process affirms a future rooted in restorative justice, where resources are distributed equitably and systemic injustices are dismantled.
The group added: “This vision embraces global solidarity, uniting communities through shared humanity, celebrating cultural diversity and rejecting the artificial borders that divide us.
“It is a call for true liberation and freedom — a world free from fear, exploitation and domination, where individuals are empowered to live authentically.”
Bermuda Is Love said that revolutionary love fosters a deep reverence for life and makes sure that shared resources are protected for future generations.
The group said the approach centres on celebrating all forms of love and placing it at the foundation of community and belonging.
It added: “The #RevolutionaryLove campaign calls on people from all walks of life to come together and reimagine what is possible when love becomes the foundation for societal transformation.
“It’s time to harness the power of love to build a world where justice, equity, and compassion are the norm — not the exception.”
Other events in the series include Letters of Love: A Workshop on Heartfelt Expressions at Treehouse in Hamilton on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm, and a Kindness Station Valentine’s Day booth in the Washington Mall from midday to 2pm on February 14.
Love in Verse: A Celebration of Poetry and Community will be held at the Bermuda Society of Arts in City Hall from midday to 2pm on February 15.
At the Sammy Wilson Central Zone Community Centre on February 22, the group will host Empathy Circle: Exploring Love as a Radical Act of Justice from midday to 2pm.
All events are free to attend.
