Red Cross marks 75th anniversary with clothes drive
A corporate clothing drive has been launched by the Bermuda Red Cross to mark its 75th anniversary, being celebrated this year.
As part of a series of events taking place over the next 12 months, the charity is calling on local companies to donate clothes to its thrift shop.
Conduit Re stepped up as the first corporate participant last month, donating clothing, accessories and shoes to support the cause.
Heather Mello, head of human resources at Conduit Re, said: "Conduit believes that engaging with local charities is critical to supporting the long-term sustainability of our island community, and our staff at Conduit are always eager to support initiatives such as this."
1, Encourage employees to sort through their closets for gently used clothing, accessories and shoes
2, Collect donations in bags no larger than a 13-gallon trash bag or a grocery store packing bag
3, Arrange a collection day for your business
Ann Spencer-Arscott, the executive director of the Bermuda Red Cross, added: “We have developed such a great relationship with Conduit Re, so to have them be the first to take part in this new initiative is very meaningful.
“We appreciate that it isn’t always easy for members of the public to drop off their donations for our thrift shop, therefore it made sense to create this service.
“To celebrate your contributions, we will take photos of your donations with your team and share them across our social-media platforms, highlighting your company’s commitment to making a difference in Bermuda.
“Join us in this meaningful initiative as we celebrate 75 years of service and look ahead to many more.“
