Excitement at launch of Carnival in Bermuda
A sea of dazzling costumes lit up the stage last night at the launch of the 2025 Carnival in Bermuda.
Nova Mas International showcased their range of costumes for the festive event – which runs from June 11 to 16 – at The Berkeley Institute to a vocal crowd of supporters.
Under the theme Lumina: The Ultraviolet Jungle, some of the island’s top models walked the stage clad in a variety of colourful designs as revellers in the crowd made note of costumes which they can chose from in June.
Designs by Tibateebs, Camera, Justin Wang, Rawle Design Studio, David Dewer and Douglas John were among those on show.
Nova Mas International said Alejandro Gomez, its creative director, had shaped the “bold, breathtaking aesthetic” of this year’s costume arrangements.
It said: “His artistry brings out our vision to life, creating an electrifying Carnival experience like no other.”
Katherine-Lee Burchell, project manager, said: “I think the crowd really enjoyed the costumes that Nova Mas had for tonight.
“They were very bright and colourful. They are going to look amazing on the road.
“The feathers are bigger and better than last year or the year before that, so its definitely something that everyone will want to wear.”
She added: “There are costumes for all body shapes and sizes and I know that was a priority for the Nova Mas camp this year.”
The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport is the title sponsor.
On Thursday, the minister, said that since the event’s inception, Carnival in Bermuda had grown tremendously and its impact on culture, tourism and local economy had become undeniable.
“The Government of Bermuda is proud to again offer significant support to this celebration, ensuring its continued success and expansion,” Mr Darrell said.
“Through strategic investment, we aim to expand its reach using targeted marketing efforts to attract more visitors to our shores.
“Recognising the importance of efficient logistics and infrastructure, our support will facilitate the seamless execution of this large-scale event.
“We see this as an important opportunity to foster greater community involvement, as well as outreach.”
