Andrew Murdoch, the Governor, has permitted the full embodiment of the Bermuda Reserve Police tomorrow.

The embodiment, under provisions in the Police Act 1974, is to last one day.

A government spokeswoman said that the Bermuda Police Service requested the embodiment “in keeping with the standard election protocols”.

More than 20 officers of the BRP, which had 25 members in August, will join BPS officers as well as troops from the Royal Bermuda Regiment at polling stations across the island between 8am and 8pm.

A BPS spokesman explained: “The aim is to provide an effective policing response, working in partnership with the Bermuda Parliamentary Registrar’s representatives to maintain law and order at the polling places, in order to allow individuals to exercise their right to vote in a safe environment.”
