A former civil servant who played a key role in the developing facilities such as the Tynes Bay Waste to Energy facility, was recognised for his leadership.

The late Russell George Wade, a distinguished former public servant who dedicated many years of service to Bermuda, was also hailed for his dedication and technical expertise by the Ministry of Public Works.

Mr Wade, who passed away this week at 72, held several senior positions within the ministry, including principal engineer (structures), chief engineer and permanent secretary.

A ministry spokesman said: “Mr Wade's leadership and technical expertise left a lasting impact on Bermuda's infrastructure.

“His dedication to public service and commitment to excellence set a standard that continues to inspire those working in the ministry today.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends and former colleagues during this difficult time.”
