The print edition of The Royal Gazette has carried a number of black-and-white pages after problems with shipping logistics.

Jonathan Howes, the chief executive and publisher of Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd, apologised to readers and advertisers for the issues that have impacted the ability to produce colour pages in the newspaper.

“We have been forced to conserve printing plates until we resolve the shipping issues,” Mr Howes said.

“In January we replaced our computer to plate equipment. The new CTP equipment eliminates the need for chemicals and is a significant upgrade to our printing operations.

“The upgrade meant we had to order plates from South America and they have been held up in Miami for several weeks and unable to complete the journey to Bermuda.

“In order to continue production we have incurred considerable expense to courier in a small quantity of plates to ensure we could even print a newspaper.”

Mr Howes said the company was doing its best to expedite the order and hoped the situation would be resolved within three weeks.
