Revival of poetry and arts event
An afternoon of poetry and song is to make its return on April 6 after a five-year absence.
Organiser Carol Clarke was part of the first event in 1996, but has not hosted it since 2020.
She explained: “It will not be big as normal, as I am just coming back after five years’ absence, so I don’t want to be overbearing and have a big thing.”
The event is set to proceed at the Grace Methodist Church Hall in Pembroke.
It centres on the theme “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, from the Bible verse Philippians 4:13.
Ms Clarke has been writing poetry for almost 40 years and received an International Poet of Merit award in 2000.
However, she said she did not plan to read any of her work during the gathering of poetry, songs and dance.
She said: “There will be others who will be reading new poetry around the theme, which is one of my favourite scripture verses.
“The afternoon takes the shape of a gospel concert and is going to be multicultural.
“A lot of people from a wide age range will perform.”

It will have free admission, but donations are welcome.
Ms Clarke said: “The funds will go to the church and the rest of it will try and cover the expenses.
“The standard of living is quite expensive, that’s why everything I have, or been attached to, I try to make very limited in cost.”
The first-come, first-served event will begin at 4pm and include light refreshments.
