A popular swimming spot in Devonshire will be closed temporarily for one month, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment has announced.
The closure of Robinson Bay Park on North Shore Road from Thursday is to facilitate essential repair and installation work at the adjacent Tynes Bay Seawater Reverse Osmosis plant.
Work crews will undertake important infrastructure improvements to ensure the facility's continued efficiency, a spokesman said.
The ministry urged residents to avoid the area during the closure in favour of alternative open spaces.
The ministry thanked residents and visitors for their co-operation and patience while the works are carried out.
