Essential works by Belco will result in the temporary closure of the WER Joell Tennis Stadium on Thursday, the Department of Sport and Recreation announced.

The closure will run from 8am to 5.30pm during which time there will be no power or running water at the facility. All facilities including courts, restrooms and administrative offices will be inaccessible.

In the event of inclement weather preventing the scheduled maintenance, the closure will be extended to Friday.

A spokeswoman said while the goal is to have the facility fully operational by 5.30pm, unforeseen circumstances may cause delays, which will be communicated to the public.

The department apologised for any inconvenience.
