Burt joins Muslims in Eid al-Fitr celebrations at CedarBridge
The Premier extended his best wishes to Bermuda’s Muslim community during the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
David Burt joined Eid al-Fitr celebrations today at CedarBridge Academy alongside Bermudian Muslims.
Mr Burt said: “The conclusion of Ramadan marks a meaningful time of reflection, gratitude and renewal.
“It is also a moment to recognise the values of compassion, discipline and generosity that guide the month of fasting and prayer.
“As families and communities come together for Eid, we are reminded of the strength found in unity and the importance of celebrating the many cultures and faiths that shape our island.”
Eid al-Fitr signifies the official end of Ramadan, a month of daytime fasting and community prayer, and is often celebrated with a feast.
Eid al-Fitr this year began at sundown yesterday and continued throughout today.
During this year’s celebrations, Mr Burt emphasised the importance of cross-community celebration.
He told attendees: “Now, more than ever, embracing diversity and honouring the traditions of all who call Bermuda home is essential to building a more connected and compassionate community.
“Bermuda continues to be enriched by the contributions of our Muslim community, whose dedication to service and family life strengthens our society.
“On behalf of the Government of Bermuda, the people of Bermuda, and my family, I extend heartfelt Eid wishes to all who are celebrating. Eid Mubarak.”
