People and pets can expect special treats at the Botanical Gardens this weekend.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said its Paws in the Park fundraiser on Sunday would feature an Easter egg hunt, live entertainment, goodie bags, raffle prizes and free dog treats.

Money raised will benefit the SPCA’s animals and TheraTails therapy programme.

TheraTails provides “structured sessions with certified professionals and SPCA rescue animals to support individuals, especially children, facing emotional and mental health challenges”.

April Augustus, the SPCA executive director, said: “This event is more than just a walk in the park.

“It’s a celebration of the bond we share with our animals and a chance to support the work we do every day to protect and care for them.”

The event will take place from 9am until noon, with tickets at $25.
