Belco kite safety competition deadline draws near
The cut-off date for Belco’s annual Kite Safety Poster Competition is this Friday, the electric company advised.
Aimed at Primary 1 and Primary 2 pupils, the contest encourages children to be creative and deliver an artistic and insightful message.
Krista Barnes, Belco’s director of communications and sustainability, said: “As Bermuda's kite season approaches, we're excited to engage our youngest community members in promoting safety around power lines.
“This competition helps children understand the importance of flying kites safely while showcasing their creativity.
“With the deadline just days away, we encourage all eligible students to submit their entries.”
The winner of the best overall poster will get a $200 toy voucher and a $200 Belco voucher.
Vouchers worth $100 will be on offer to the designers of posters deemed most beautiful, having the best kite-safety message, most original and as having the best use of mixed media.
Toy and Belco vouchers of the same value will also go to the winner of the transmission distribution and retail choice award.
The honourable mention poster recipient will receive a $50 toy voucher and a $50 Belco voucher.
All submissions must be hand-drawn on 8½in by 11in paper and can either be photographed or scanned.
Submissions can be e-mailed to communications@belco.bm or delivered to the utility company’s office at 27 Serpentine Road, Pembroke.
Submissions must include the child’s name, school and year group on the back of the entry.
They must be accompanied by signed parental or guardian consent, which can be found on the Belco website, www.belco.bm.
