Events planned for World Art Day

A new twist is expected to be given to iconic Bermudian symbols as a creative contest takes place for World Art Day next week.

The Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation invited members of the public to mark the observance by connecting with art throughout Tuesday.

It will hold a grub day, tag day and an “Everyone is Creative” contest.

A spokeswoman explained: “Our creative contest is taking some of our favourite items in Bermuda, from moongates to cahows to lighthouses, and allowing individuals to make them into a new creation, completely different from their original design.

“This concept of creative process allows everyone to see things in a new way and imagine something completely different.”

Companies, schools or families who would like to participate in the tag day, grub day or the creative contest, e-mail Kaleidoscope at info@kaf.bm or call 542-9000.

Funds raised will benefit Kaleidoscope’s bursary programme, which ensures young people aged between 18 months and 18 years can explore nature and creative processes.

Members of the community were encouraged to wear “what inspires them to be creative” during the grub day.
