Contractors have been invited by the Government to bid for work that would help to stabilise a recently collapsed slope at Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy.

A request for proposal, published on the Government’s procurement website, urged interested companies to submit plans for the project.

The RFP said the Government requires construction services to stabilise the sandy slope that recently collapsed behind the children’s play area.

It added: “The work involves clearing the area and cutting the rock face back into a stable, stepped slope as detailed in drawings.

“An area from the top of the existing bank to a nearby roadway is to be cleared to provide temporary access during the construction, which is to be regraded and replanted following completion of the works.”

Documents included in the RFP showed the area of the work to be on the western side of the property, between Hope Academy and the neighbouring Prospect Preschool.

The contractor would be required to establish barriers at the site to ensure excavated rock and soil does not fall into the school while work is carried out.

Proposals must be submitted before 3pm on May 1.
