New UK visa requirements for Trinidadians coming soon

New visa requirements for Trinidad & Tobago nationals are still set to come into effect on April 23, the Bermuda Government has warned.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Economy and Labour said the new policy will require Trinidad & Tobago nationals to obtain a visa to travel to or transit through Britain.

“The British Government announced a six-week transition period ending on April 23, 2025,” the spokesman said.

“During this time, visitors who have booked their travel and obtained an electronic travel authorisation before the change takes effect may still enter the UK without a visa.

“A similar transition period applies to those transiting through the UK to another destination.”

The spokesman said that to avoid travel disruptions, Trinidad & Tobago nationals — including work-permit holders and visitors — must obtain a multi re-entry visa for their transiting country, such as Britain, the United States or Canada.

“This visa must be valid for at least 45 days beyond either the expiration date of their work permit or their intended departure from Bermuda, whichever applies,” he added.

The spokesman said, based on Department of Immigration records, most permit holders already hold the required multi-entry visas, so the impact was expected to be minimal.
