A deadline for the Government’s cost of living survey is nearing, with Wednesday marking the final opportunity for residents and businesses to give insight on top expenses.

The anonymous online survey from the Ministry of Home Affairs, launched this month, takes about ten minutes and covers topics from utilities to food and housing.

Its aim is to provide a picture of how the cost of living has affected the island, ahead of a summit planned for this year.

Alexa Lightbourne, the minister, said in March that tackling rising prices would entail “collaboration, innovation and solutions across multiple ministries”.

The survey, at www.costofliving.gov.bm, opens with general queries on gender, living circumstances and income before moving on to an evaluation of affordability in various areas, to help inform talks on making the island more affordable.

A separate survey option seeks feedback from large and small businesses as well as non-profit organisations.

A ministry spokeswoman added: “Reducing the cost of living in Bermuda will take a collaborative effort and community commitment, so the ministry is encouraging all residents in Bermuda to visit the link provided and have their say.”
