Government offering free tickets to finance forum
The Bermuda Digital Finance Forum is set to bring together digital business experts next month, with the Government offering a limited number of free tickets.
The event, from May 6 to 9, is intended to host “leading voices from across industries including digital finance, artificial intelligence, public policy and asset management”.
A government spokeswoman said that as part of its support of the forum, the Government will offer free tickets for the Community Day on May 7 on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Kicking off at Pier Six on May 7, all Community Day ticket holders will receive $100 in digital dollars, which can be used at the event to purchase food, drinks and merchandise as part of the ‘Vendor Village’ to experience digital finance first-hand,” she added.
“The goal of the Community Day is to demonstrate how digital finance can empower Bermudians and small businesses with cheaper and faster payment options.”
The spokeswoman added that the Community Day would be open to residents interested in exploring a career in the digital finance sector — and a technical background was not required.
David Burt, the Premier, said the Government wanted to ensure that Bermudians were part of the growing industry.
“The Ministry of Finance aims to make digital finance more accessible, and these sponsored tickets will help encourage Bermudians to get involved,” Mr Burt said.
“By giving all attendees digital dollars, the event organisers are offering a chance for Bermudians to experience what the future of money looks like.”
To apply for a free ticket, interested members of the public should like and re-share the official Government of Bermuda social media post announcing the ticket opportunity on Facebook and Instagram.
They should then visit lu.ma/digitalfinanceforum, select “Day 1 Only” and enter details with the voucher code “MONEY”.
Successful applicants will be notified by e-mail.
