An award-winning tour manager will discuss reparations and restorative justice at the Bermuda National Trust’s Paget headquarters next week.

The BNT said that Rashida Godwin’s presentation, “Reparations: Reflections on repair, restoration and reconciliation”, will explore reparations in Bermuda, rooted in the island’s “enduring legacy of enslavement and colonialism, systems that created deep social and economic inequalities that continue to shape society today”.

It added: “Reparations seek to confront these historical injustices by advancing equity, healing and restorative justice for affected communities.”

Ms Godwin, the managing director of Titan Express Tours, received Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda’s Dr Eva Hodgson Award in 2023 for developing The Black OurStory Tour, the Mary Prince Legacy Bus Tour and other excursions that explore African heritage within Bermudian history.

The discussion on February 19 will take place from 6pm to 7.30pm, tickets are $20 for BNT members, $25 for non-members and can be purchased via bnt.bm.
