Two more youth teams to compete in Boston Volleyball Festival
The Bermuda Volleyball Association will be sending another two youth teams to compete in the Nike Boston Volleyball Festival this weekend.
The Paradise Hitters, a girls under-18 side, and the Big Wave Riders, a boys under-17 team, will compete in the three-day, USA Volleyball sanctioned event, held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Centre.
For a number of the travelling party, this will be the last opportunity to compete as a junior athlete before moving up to the association’s senior programme.
“On the heels of our last tournament back in December, in Daytona Beach, we’ve made some slight adjustments to the team and strategy so we hope to do a better job in Boston,” said Gary Leblanc, head coach of the girls team.
“This is our favourite tournament of the year and the team has worked really hard over the last few months to make some improvements. We anticipate that the competition will be very tough but we’re ready to do our best and hopefully come away with great results.”
Meanwhile, boys head coach Kevin Manuel, said his side are aiming to add to what has been a successful year for the programme.
“The U17 Boys squad hope to build on the success of the U14 and U16 teams from week one of the Boston Volleyball Festival.
“No matter what the results this weekend bring, it has been a very successful year for the Bermuda Volleyball Association Junior Boys programme, with a record three teams attending the Boston Volleyball Festival.”
