The WER Joell Tennis Stadium hosted a Pickleball Extravaganza to celebrate the official opening of the brand new courts at the site on Saturday.

The exhibition included a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Owen Darrell, the sports minister, David Burt, the Premier, as well as demonstration of pickleball techniques by elite players, open-play events, and those in attendance being given an opportunity to try their hand at the sport.

To help meet the demand of the rapid growth of the sport in recent years on island, the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, in collaboration with the Pickleball Association of Bermuda, oversaw the conversion of existing tennis courts, designed to provide a state-of-the-art facility for players of all skill levels and ages to enjoy.
