The Bermuda Cricket Board and Bermuda Football Association have joined forces after signing off on a memorandum of understanding.

The purpose of the agreement is for the exchange of information and where mutually beneficial a collaboration on initiatives including member club programming, scheduling best practices, public relations, infrastructure and international tournaments.

Both organisations have expressed a desire to develop and structure the co-operation to work together via an Act of Parliament as a vehicle towards the shared objective, as well as being committed towards the continued development and promotion of excellence in both sports on and off the field.

The agreement will be placed on the respect and mutual understanding of the respective organisation’s structure, mandate and institutional capacities of both national associations.

The objective is to foster co-operation on sporting matters and member clubs programming through regular dialogue between the BCB and BFA.

The initial agreement expires on September 15, 2024, at which time it will be reviewed for a further period to be mutually decided by both parties.

Both organisations recognise that establishing a partnership is an integral component in the promotion and management of sport in Bermuda.

The agreement was officially signed by BCB president Arnold Manders and BFA counterpart Mark Wade during a ceremony at Police Recreation Club last night.

“It is good that we’re here and it’s done,” Manders said.

“It is meant to ensure that we work together as the two national bodies.

“I am really grateful as president of the Bermuda Cricket Board for this MOU that I think will help both associations get to where they want to be.”

Over the years both parties have already worked together in order to overcome a number of issues including the sharing of venues, players and executives across the sports.“We have worked together on any number of challenges and thought it would be even better exploring how we can share more things, more ideas when we take on initiatives,” Wade said. “So I look forward to those types of discussions between the two bodies.”
